The Academy
Established in 2007, The Academy is a competitive, two-year fellowship program to prepare the world's finest post-graduate musicians for careers that combine musical excellence with teaching, community outreach, advocacy, and leadership. The fellowship offers opportunities to perform in concert halls, to teach in public schools, to engage in local communities and college campuses, and to support this work through professional development.
Every two years, up to 20 of the world’s finest young professional musicians are chosen through audition and application as Fellows of The Academy. Carnegie Hall in collaboration with The Juilliard School provides coaching and seminars with distinguished instructors and musicians. The Fellows also learn at the most fundamental musical level by teaching music in New York City public schools. As Ensemble ACJW, a performance collaborative, these exceptional artists enhance their professional skills through residencies at Skidmore College and concerts at Carnegie Hall and Juilliard and at community venues around New York City, including hospitals, senior centers, correctional facilities, and homeless shelters.
